About
Brett Simpson, M.D., received his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He earned master’s degrees in both biomedical science and healthcare administration and management at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Simpson also completed his medical doctorate from Rosalind Franklin University.
Dr. Simpson completed his neurosurgery residency and enfolded spine fellowship at the University of Texas-Houston. During every stage of his education, he has taken a leadership role, including being president of his medical school class and solo chief resident. From there, Dr. Simpson practiced at St. David’s South in Austin, Texas, where he started the first spine surgery program. During his time in Austin, he served as the neurosurgery trauma liaison. In that role he helped the hospital maintain its level 2 ACS trauma certification.
Dr. Simpson believes in delivering compassionate, skillful and efficient care based on a partnership with his patients. He has a special interest in adult degenerative and complex spinal reconstructions, as well as traumatic injuries to the nervous system. In addition to his spine practice, Dr. Simpson is dedicated to treating other conditions of the central and peripheral nervous system, including malignant and benign brain tumors, Chiari malformations, carpal tunnel syndrome and hydrocephalus, to name a few.
